PATINA - Opening Reception & Poetry Reading - May 12, 6-9p

In collaboration with accomplished poets mostly rooted in the DC area, Corcoran Graduate Art and the Book Students and Faculty have created a series of prints drawing inspiration from the theme Patina. Artists Christy Ball, Georgia Deal, Erik Delfino, Marjorie Devereux Zöbisch, Julie Garcia, Li Pallas, Jennaway Pearson, Sydney Reisen, Maria San Martin, and Whitney Stahl paired themselves with the words of a poet before setting text and imagery in print mediums of their choosing. Featured poets include: Beth Baruch Joselow, Carol Beane, Christopher Cunningham, Jenn DePalma, Nan Fry, Doug Lang, Tom Mandel, Casey Smith, Bernard Welt, and Maged Zaher.

The exhibit will include 10 eloquent and inspirational new works in etching, letterpress, screenprinting, digital, lithograph, or mixed print mediums.

The event will take place at Open Studio DC on May 12, 2012, from 6-9p. The poetry reading will being at 7p. Open Studio DC is located at 1348 Florida Ave, NE, Washington DC. You can also download a PDF of the show's flyer.

Screenprinting Workshops May - June 2012

Open Studio dc is pleased to announce our first screenprinting workshops for May and June 2012. Workshops will be taught by Carolyn Hartmann, Open Studio dc’s owner and an Adjunct Professor in the Print Department at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. You can sign up for workshops by sending an email to Carolyn@openstudiodc.com. Each workshop can accommodate up to 8 students – first come, first serve. Payment can be made either by check, cash, or on-line with credit cards through PayPal. When you sign up for a class we will send you back payment information and let you know if the class still has openings.

      May 14 - Introduction to Screenprinting T-shirts workshop - $120
      The “Introduction to Screenprinting T-shirts” workshop is for anyone who has either never printed before or people who may have had some basic printing experience but either needs a refresher or wants to learn a little more about printing on fabric. The workshop will run from 7-10pm, Monday, May 14th, 2012. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on – the inks are permanent when they dry. Open Studio dc will supply everything you need including a variety of images to work from. Workshop Price = $120.

      May 20 - Introduction to Screenprinting workshop - $100
      The “Introduction to Screenprinting” workshop is for anyone who has never printed before, and for people who may have some basic screenprinting experience but want to refresh their skills. The workshop will run from 11am - 2pm, on Sunday, May 20th , 2012. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on – the inks are permanent when they dry. We will supply one white T-shirt for each student to print on and take home. Open Studio dc will supply a variety of images to work from. Workshop price = $100.

      May 27 - Introduction to Screenprinting workshop - $100
